Introduction: Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery
DVU surgeons are expert in minimally invasive surgical approaches to a wide spectrum of urological disease, from cancers such as prostate, bladder and Adrenal Cancer to benign conditions of the urinary tract such as ureteropelvic junction obstruction and ureteral stricture disease. Laparoscopy and robotic surgery are considered minimally invasive compared to traditional open surgery where a much larger incision is made. The benefits to the patient are many and include less pain, decreased blood loss, and quicker recovery. Today the majority of major urologic surgeries can be performed by a laparoscopic or more often robotic approach. DVU is dedicated to providing our patients the most advanced and state-of-the-art surgical treatments. To that end our DVU robotic surgeons listed below are dedicated in their practice to minimally invasive surgery and all are fellowship trained in these techniques.
We currently offer robotic surgery with the da Vinci surgical system at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Camden, Kennedy Health System and Virtua Memorial Hospital Burlington.
The following DVU physicians have extensive experience in performing robotic surgery:
